Managing Director Andy Riste has overseen a range of developments over the last year at Metaltech that deliver enhanced service for customers, whilst continuing to improve efficiency and capacity at the expanded Somerset facility.

“Metaltech Precision is bigger, more efficient and more customer-focussed than ever,” he says. “It continues to be a thriving business built on expertise and investment, supported by a fantastic team.”

Metaltech Precision goes from strength to strength - an update from MD Andy Riste

Investment in key innovations

Metaltech Precision has continued to invest in state-of-the-art machinery, most recently taking delivery of a new Citizen L32 sliding head machine; and a Nakamura-Tome WT300 multitasking machine, combining the latest technology and capabilities in turning and milling.

The Nakamura is supported by a fully-automated 35kg Robojob robotic loading system which allows Metaltech Precision to run the Nakamura machine 24/7.

“Investment in this robotic system is an exciting step for us to expand automation at Metaltech,” says Andy. “Customers are already benefitting from the increased capacity freed up by round-the-clock production, and we expect to continue our investment in this technology.”

Investment in key staff

Andy is proud that the new machinery also gives workers the chance to upskill at a time when skilled operatives are hard to find. “We are investing in training to ensure that staff have the opportunity for personal development – the robot loading system is proving an attractive incentive to programmers and operatives to learn more!”

Business acquisition

Metaltech Precision has also expanded in the last year with the acquisition of NC Precision, an experienced precision miniature machining business specialising in sliding head technology. As part of the acquisition seven Citizen sliding head machines are now situated alongside Metaltech’s existing six machines in a freshly-expanded miniature machining cell, with newly-installed cleaning and finishing areas.

Metaltech has also grown its team with the transfer of highly experienced personnel from NC Precision. This latest acquisition gives an additional 2800 hours’ capacity a month for sliding head turning, representing an excellent opportunity to satisfy new business opportunities.

Customer support

Alongside the expansion of its business, Metaltech Precision is tailoring its customer systems to ensure that customers benefit from a single point of contact. Introducing an improved Account Management system will ensure that the business is providing the best solutions to its customers, and that information can be shared effectively.

Continued improvements at Metaltech Precision

As Managing Director of this growing company, Andy Riste is proud of what his team has achieved:

“Metaltech Precision is a clear market leader in precision machining, and we are continually driving improvements that benefit our growing customer base across a range of demanding sectors. I look forward to an exciting future!”
