Customers benefit from investment in manufacturing and a skilled team.

Metaltech Precision is a CNC machining company built on strong family values which has become a market leader in the field of precision machining services. Extensive investment in machinery and technology, combined with machining experience and a skilled team, delivers the best outcomes for customers.

In this blog we talk to Simon Hopkins, Commercial Manager at Metaltech Precision, to find out how customers benefit from the company’s machining services and expertise.

Machining services and management expertise

As a fully trained engineer with over 25 years’ experience, Simon understands the practical challenges of machining. Starting on the shopfloor as a CNC miller at a small subcontract CNC machining company in Surrey, he extended his experience at a tool making company in the thermoplastic extrusion sector.

Simon also has an impressive range of experience for his current role as Commercial Manager, responsible for oversight of sales, order processing, purchasing and contract management. During his long tenure at Metaltech Precision Simon has worked in Sales & Marketing, Quoting and Estimating, Order Processing, Quality Control, Production Management and Dispatch/Logistics.

Every role has contributed to my knowledge and understanding of Metaltech’s customers and their machining requirements,” he says, “which is key to Metaltech’s ability to provide a high quality machining, fabrication and assembly service to our customers.

Expanding our team

Simon’s influence has led to a strengthening of Metaltech Precision’s focus on customer service. The appointment of Stuart Franklin to enhance key account management and Jason Contreras’s appointment as new estimating engineer have both improved the way we deliver information to customers and the speed at which we can do so.

Extending precision machining services

As part of Expromet Technologies Group, Metaltech Precision recently extended its miniature sliding head machining capacity through the acquisition and integration of NC Precision, processes in which Simon was instrumental.

We worked hard to ensure that the change was as smooth as possible for customers, and through further investment in sliding head machining and facilities we can now offer customers an even wider choice of miniature machining options.

The strategic acquisition increased the number of sliding-head turning centres available at Metaltech Precision from 6 to 13, strengthening our Swiss-type mill-turning capacity. Metaltech Precision now offers an extensive suite of machining services to meet customer needs.

The acquisition of NC Precision and continued investment in up-to-date plant means that the production of even difficult machined components can be simplified, and the labour cost element reduced.

Reduced machining time and lowering labour input through investment helps us control costs and maintain our reputation as a rapid response, short lead-time CNC machining company with excellent on-time delivery results,” says Simon.
